Central Debris Pickup Update

By  |

No pickup Sunday due to heavy rains Saturday at the dumpsite.  The road has become too muddy for the trucks to pass.  They hope to resume again tomorrow.  By Tuesday, they should be nearing 77,000 cubic yards of woody waste.

Anyone who still has debris to be picked up is asked to get it by the roadside no later than (Monday 9/22) so that everything can be cleared in a second pass of each street, which should begin later this week.   All loose items such as leaves must be bagged.  The contractor will not pick up piles of leaves.   It is our understanding that Allied Waste will only pick up 3 bags at a time on normal trash collection day.  Other materials such as fences, household waste, and bulky items will be picked up last on a separate pass.  Please separate these items from your tree debris.

Crews will continue working on the first pass in the Frenchtown Road area and Comite Hills West and Lovett Rd areas on Monday, as well as other scattered areas around the city.  Crews have picked up approx. 80% of the debris along city-maintained streets in just 10 days.

If you live along a state highway, debris should be placed out for pickup by DOTD.  If you live along a Parish road, debris should be placed out for pickup by the City-Parish.
