CP Rebels Win in Florida

By  |

The Central Private Rebels baseball team opened play at Tate High School in Pensacola, Florida with a 5-2 victory over Camp Station of Tennessee. The win improves the Rebels’ record to 21-1 for the year.

Gage Wilkinson remained unbeaten for the year with a complete game 4 hitter. Wilkinson struck out 14 Station batters on the evening. The Rebels were able to score 4 of their 5 runs in the top of the second inning. Taylor Ort started a 2 out rally with a double down the left field line that sent Chase Metz in for the score. Two more consecutive doubles by Wilkinson and Jacob Fryoux plated two more runs for the Rebels. A single by Brennan Courville chased Fryoux home for the fourth run. A leadoff homerun by Station first baseman Fulcher put them on the scoreboard. That would wrap up the only scoring until the top of the sixth inning.

In that inning Logan Lewis opened with a single and came in to score on an RBI single by Thomas Bourgeois. Station would threaten again in the bottom of the seventh, scoring a run on a bases loaded walk. Wilkinson was then able to end the game with a ground out by Langston with the bases loaded.

The Rebels will continue to play in Pensacola for the remainder of the week.
