Rabbit Stolen from Local Residents Home

I would like to report that on May 18 between 8:30 am and 11:30 am someone entered a gated backyard at my home in Tanglewood on Hooper Road, and stole our pet rabbit even breaking the hinges on the cage to get him out. The Sheriffs’ office took a report but there is slim hope our beloved S~mores will be returned to us. We are afraid that someone seeking to train dogs for hunting or fighting may have taken our pet. Because of the brazen nature of the theft we would like to warn the other members of our community to keep a closer eye on their small animals. S`mores was a mini-lop rabbit, white with grey and brown spots and only weighed about six pounds; he is greatly missed by our three children. If any one knows about who might have done this, please contact the relevant authorities.

Thank you.

St. Jude Bike-A-Thon This Weekend

This Saturday, May 30, there will be a bike-a-thon at Bellingrath Hills Elementary to benefit St. Jude Hospital. St. Jude operates both as a treatment hospital and a research facility. They focus on cancer and other serious diseases in children, and they treat patients whether or not their families are able to pay. St. Jude works largely off of donations and volunteer efforts, and this weekend is Central’s opportunity to contribute. The bike-a-thon will take place from 8:30 AM to noon, and people are welcome to bike, walk, or simply make a donation. If you would like to make a pledge or donation, forms are available at the Central Chamber of Commerce. Contact Chuck Langlois (261-0555) or Tony LoBue (261-6000) with any questions.

CMS PTO School Supply Fundraiser

The PTO at Central Middle School is having a school supply fundraiser for the upcoming school year. All proceeds will help with PTO- sponsored events for the school. Order forms can be found on the School Website and must be either dropped off at Central Middle or be mailed to CMS PTO, 11526 Sullivan Road, Baton Rouge, La. 70818 by the deadline. Please include your student’s name in the memo part of the check and make checks payable to the Central Middle School PTO.

Central School System Test Results Released

Follow this link:  SCORES  to see how the Central School System scored on Leap and Exit exams.  These tests, administered each year to third through eleventh graders, form the basis for the state’s evaluation and ranking of school systems.  While Central will not be formally ranked by the state until after its third year of operation, Central schools are certainly among the top few in Louisiana.

As can be seen in the report, Central schools made significant improvements over last year.  Central scores significantly above the state averages in all categories and improved over its own 2008 scores in almost every test.

3 Central Private Boys Play In Allstar Game

Recently, three Central Private Seniors were chosen to participate in the Mississippi Private School Association All Star Baseball Game in Jackson, Mississippi. Catcher Brennon Courville , First baseman Thomas Bourgeois, and Pitcher/Shortstop Gage Wilkinson traveled to Jackson for a three day stay in order to practice with the all star team, attend a banquet in the all stars honor and, finally, play their last high school game, which was the MPSA  AA North against the AA South. The teams were a culmination of the best that the MPSA had to offer.

After enduring a steady rain, the boys fared well contributing to the South’s win of 26-3. Thomas Bourgeois was chosen the AA South MVP after batting 1000, including a 2 run home run and a hard single to right field.
