CMS Football Remains Undefeated

By  |

In a battle of two unbeaten football teams, the Central Middle Wildcats traveled to West Feliciana last night and defeated the Saints 24-8. This win puts CMS alone in first place in their district with a record of 4-0. While CMS has relied on its size and power to muscle its way through the season, West Feliciana has used its speed to defeat team after team. This was to be a game of undefeated teams, using different styles of offense. West Feliciana received the opening kickoff and started the game at their own 40 yard line. Central players and fans were quickly quieted as the Saints scored a touchdown on the first play of the game from 60 yards out, as the Saints used their speed to outrun the Wildcat defense. With the 2-point conversion good, the Saints led the game 8-0. It was then Central’s turn at offense. The Wildcats started from their own 45-yard line and used its explosive running game to power its way down the field. Central scored on a 12-yard run. The 2-point conversion was good and the game was now tied at 8-8. The Saints tried to use their speed to run around the corners, but our defensive secondary held tough. The Saints also used misdirection plays that seem to rattle our defense on a couple of downs, but the West Feliciana offense proved no match to our defense. The Wildcats’ offense showed its passing capabilities, as several long passes were completed in the second quarter. Central controlled the clock the entire second half as they scored two more times, powering their way down the field. With the 24-8 victory, the first-place CMS Wildcats put their undefeated season on the line as they host Baker next Tuesday night, October 6 at 6:00pm in Wildcat Stadium.
