CHS Choir Students Make All-State Choirs

By  |

Two choir students from Central High School have recently been selected for statewide honors. Conor Babin and Mark Klein were both chosen for the very first Men’s All-State Honor Choir to be sponsored by the Louisiana Choral Director’s Association. Auditions for this group were done by submitting recordings of each individual student singing his part on the specified audition piece. This choir will be featured in concert at the First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge on Saturday, October 31.
Mark Klein has also been chosen to represent Central in the All-State Honor Choir sponsored by the Louisiana Music Educators Association. As part of the audition process for this choir, he had to give a live performance before judges of a choral piece in German; he then had to sight-read music he had never before seen, with no accompaniment and with only one minute of preparation time. After making it through the first round, he repeated a similar process for yet a second round before getting the good news that he had been selected. This choir will be featured in concert on Monday, November 23, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Baton Rouge.
Many congratulations to both of our outstanding choral musicians!
