CMS Beats Baker, Completes Undefeated Season

By  |

football1The Central Middle School football team completed their regular season undefeated last Tuesday night by beating Baker Middle 38-8. For the first time this season, the young Wildcats played on a dry field, with no rain in sight, and they took advantage of the conditions. The Buffalos received the opening kickoff and scored on their offensive drive, but that would be their last score of the ball game. The Wildcat offense took control of the ball and drove down the field to score easily on their first possession. The CMS defense settled into the game and held the Baker offense in check the rest of the game. After another score by the Wildcat offense, the defense wanted to get in on a little scoring action as they picked up a Baker fumble and ran it 40 yards for a touchdown. The Wildcats coasted the rest of the game. Central’s quarterback Jake Myers enjoyed another fantastic game as the Wildcat offensive line, led by Steven Young and Timmy Magee opened up big holes and gave the QB time to complete several long passes to receiver Brandon Jordan. Defensive standouts were Seth Thibodeaux, D’Wayne Profit and Sam Russell. Celebration of an undefeated regular season was short-lived after the game because the Wildcats know they have unfinished business this weekend. The CMS Wildcats finished the regular
season 7-0 and will play for the district Championship this Saturday at 12:00pm at Zachary High School.
