Central High School Updates

By  |

thanksgiving1The Central High School PTO has provided the following updates concerning upcoming CHS events:

Early dismissal is Friday at 11:30 (car riders)/12:00 (bus) – Have a blessed Thanksgiving and we will see your students back in school on Monday, 11/30

Go Big Cats football – we are playing at home against Ouachita High School in the 2nd round of state playoffs.  Come on out and let’s give our support to our Wildcat football team.  Tickets are $9 in advance (can buy in school office) and also $9 at gate.

The Community Coffee Campaign will be extended until 12/4. Parents, we would like your help to make sure this is the best year ever. Please encourage your students to bring their labels to school as soon as possible.  The PTO uses all of the money earned to by items such as:
1.  icemaker for teachers lounge
2.  new thermometer for school nurse
3.  Lysol spray & wipes
4.  printer cartridges
5.  teachers appreciation luncheon
6.  teachers snack day
As you can see, the money is well spent.  Tell your students that they will either get a free dress day or a free breakfast.  The winning class will make that decision.

Christmas is almost here!  Help us thank our teachers.
Parents, each year at Christmas we hold a Teacher’s Appreciation luncheon (Dec. 16th).  We present each faculty/staff with a gift and we also hold drawings for gifts donated by you.  It is a lot of fun & the faculty really looks forward to it. Please bring your wrapped gift to the front office with a label marked “male” or “female” if it applies.  We appreciate all your donations.  The front office is
collecting the gifts for the PTO.  Thank you for helping to make your annual luncheon such a success!  Update – we haven’t received any donations as of yet, but know we can count on you to show our appreciation to the fine faculty of CHS.

Back by Popular Demand: ACT prep crash course. Spots are still available, but hurry.
A CHS teacher, Susan Freeman, will be offering the ACT prep crash course again. This course is approx. 1 hour per session and each session covers one topic out of the four topics on the ACT.  Feedback has been positive and I can attest that my son raised his score 2 points after taking this course.  The instructor, Mrs. Freeman, will provide strategies for maximizing your score on
the ACT. (Ms. Freeman is a CHS teacher, teaches math and has also taught the ACT semester prep course offered previously at CHS).  Mrs. Freeman does not guarantee an increase in ACT scores.
