Speed Management Practices in Louisiana
Learn more about speed management on state and local roads in Louisiana. 
Topics include safety;  DOTD’s process for evaluating and setting regulatory and advisory speed limits; signing; local road speed considerations; school zones; safe routes to school program; enforcement and aggressive driving.
 
Learn how speed limits are established and what constitutes a reasonable and safe speed, the definition of the 85th percentile, and purpose behind its use.  A review of policies regarding setting speed limits will follow, as well as a presentation on the components of an engineering speed study.
Also on tap:  the property placement of speed and regulatory signs in accordance with national standards; safety and enforcement of speed zones; school zone reduction zones, and an introduction to the new Task Force on Speed and Aggressive Driving
