Lady Wildcat Softball: Bi-District Champs

By  |

The Central Softball team clenched a wild card birth in the LHSAA playoffs last week.  On Tuesday the #16 Lady Wildcats hosted the #17 Pineville Lady Rebels in front of a packed Wildcat Park.  The Rebels struck first in the pitching duel, with a string of three consecutive hits to plate the first run of the game in the top of the 6th inning.  The Wildcats could not counter in the bottom of the 6th, but started off the bottom of the 7th inning with a walk by Kelsey Couvillion.  Katie Flowers hit a fielders choice to shortsop for the first out of the inning.  Alaina Miley flied out to right field for the second out of the inning.  Ashlynn Ferguson battled a 0-2 count to smash a single into right field, advancing flowers from 1st to 3rd.  Pinch Runner Ashley Dileo stole second base, setting up Megan Saia's 7th inning heroics.  Saia singled to right field to score Flowers easily, while Dileo met the ball at the plate and was called safe to end the ball game.  The final score stood Central 2, Pineville 1.  Central will travel to St. Amant on Thursday (4/22) for the regional round for a 4:00 game against the #1 seed Lady Gators.
