Central Community Assistance Foundation

The Central Community Assistance Foundation (CCAF) met again last Thursday, April 22nd. The meeting, led by Janet Stevens from the Central Community School System, was held at Blackwater United Methodist Church. The goal of the CCAF is to focus on Central students and their families who are in need of some form of help. This includes not only the Central School System, but St. Alphonsus and Central Private, as well. The foundation got started with the help of the Central Area Pastor’s Association who, along with some school staff and community volunteers, saw a need in Central that should be addressed. Families who are in need of assistance include those who are homeless, going through a disaster or tragedy, or who are in need of basic food and necessities.

Thursday’s meeting focused on volunteering, with committees being formed to address needs like fundraising, food, counseling, and clothing. There is truly something for everyone to help with, regardless of age of personal means. If you would like to help with this effort, come to the next meeting, the exact date of which will be announced when it is decided by the foundation’s board. More details and dates will be printed here as they become available.
