Central Citizens Meet in Prayer

By  |

Last Thursday, May 6th was the 59th Annual National Day of Prayer.  Acting on this, Mayor Watts signed a declaration stating that May 6th is a Day of Prayer in Central.  A large group gathered Thursday in front of City Hall to pray for our government, military men and women, businesses, media, schools, families, and churches.  Mayor Pro-Tem Ralph Washington came forward at the beginning of the evening to make the Prayer Proclamation for Central.  Members of the community stood up to lead prayers for each part of our city.  Prayer leaders included Jeff Stanfill (Covenant Community Church), Bill Parsons (Central Worship Center), Kenny Kepper (Berean Fellowship), Chip Bailey (K-Love), Mike Faulk (School System Superintendent), Kenny Cutrer (Victory Harvest Church), and Donnie Shaffer (The Church in Central).  Rachel Rasch and Vickie Evans led music for the evening.

Ron Erickson, Pastor at Future Hope Ministries and President of the Central Chamber of Commerce, opened and closed the prayer meeting.  At the end of the evening, Bro. Erickson stepped forward and gave a heartfelt plea for healing in Central.  He spoke about the divide that has grown in our community over the past few months, and he asked that we work together to heal that division by focusing on our faith and our relationships with each other. This way Central can once again be the city where people come together to work for common goals in the community.
