Great to see who donated and how much–puts things in perspective! When and where can we see a breakdown of exactly how the proceeds from this event have and will be used? Exactly how much went to the schools (they could use some help with the outrageous permit fees they are facing!), and how much went for “land for future use” and whose name is/will be on that deed?

Laruelyn, I encourage you to get involved in the planning of this event. The planning meetings are open to everyone (and we have one today at noon at Elegant memories). You will see that everyone involved is doing it for right reasons and nothing nefarious is occurring.

$100,000 is going to Central schools. $4,000 has already been given to Blue Star Mothers of Central. $6,000 has been set aside for another charitable effort. They are currently discussing what exactly that should be. The remaining money is going to make improvements on a site on Blackwater Road. The Church in Central has acquired land over there, and they are offering to make that the site for Cooking in Central for the forseeable future. Lease options are currently being discussed for that. Everyone is invited to the Cooking in Central meeting today at noon at Elegant Memories if you would like to learn more or get involved. Louis DeJohn, who is one of the people who heads up Cooking in Central, would be happy to talk to you and answer any other questions you may have. You can contact his office at 927-6520.

Just curious since it was one of the hot topics this year. With this being on church property will there be beer sold next year at Cookin?
