On Friday night, the Wildcats travelled to Port Allen to take on the Pelicans.  It was a game where Central’s defense really stepped up, putting up some points of their own while keeping Port Allen scoreless.  Central’s first score of the game was a safety brought about by a defensive team effort.  The game continued on a steady pace from there, with a field goal by Matthew Thibodeaux near the end of the first quarter and another in the second.  The Wildcat defense kept a furious pace, with senior James “J.R.” Richardson running 20 yards to turn a Port Allen fumble into a Central touchdown.  The Wildcats came up short in their 2 point conversion attempt, and the first half ended with a score of 14-0.  6 more points were put up by Trevor Sansone in the third quarter when he ran 24 yards for a touchdown, a big play that helped add up to his total of 88 rushing yards for the night.  Matthew Thibodeaux came in afterward with a successful kick for the extra point, bringing the Wildcats to what would be their final score of 21-0.  Congratulations to the Central Wildcats for a season opener well played.

Come to Wildcat Stadium this Friday night for a home game against St. Paul's at 7 p.m.
