Submitted by David Barrow

Beginning approximately October 25, 2010 the contractor will start a mill and overlay project on Greenwell springs. The project limits are from just north of Sullivan Road to just south of Magnolia Bridge Road. Work will be allowed from 7 pm to 5:30 am each night, Monday nights through Thursday nights. Work will also take place from 7 pm Friday night through 5:30 am Monday morning on the weekends. Work will not be allowed during major holidays or during periods of LSU and Southern football games.

The contractor will first patch deteriorated sections of the existing asphalt roadway where necessary. Next, 3 inches of the existing asphalt roadway surface will be removed and replaced with 3.5 inches of new asphalt. The guardrails on this section of roadway will also be replaced.

Also, DOTD crews will be performing overlay work on Hooper Rd between Greenwell Springs Rd and Sullivan Rd this week.

Work will also begin this week on street rehabilitation work in Bellingrath Lakes subdivision, followed by work in Morgan Place West. Crews have already completed work on Old Wax Rd, Landmor Drive, Empress Drive, and Morgan Rd. Shoulder work and striping still remain to be done.

Please be patient and allow extra time when traveling through these areas. All of this work is being done to provide better roads in the city of Central.
