A Letter from the Mayor: Blue Star Moms and Halloween

By  |

I want to say a heart felt Thank You to those of you that have donated to the Mayor’s 100 Club.  As a reminder, this money goes to the Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana and is used to send Thanksgiving supplies to our armed forces men and women in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Donations are still being accepted until October 30th.  Last year we raised approximately $5,000.  Let’s exceed this goal this year.  HELP OUR TROOPS!.

I am asking any who are able to join the Mayor’s 100 Club with a $100 donation; but any and all donations are important and appreciated.  We also have available a list of supplies that can be purchased for these men and women.  We are accepting these at City Hall and they will be given to the Blue Star Mothers to supplement these packages.

What do you get for your contribution?  The heart felt satisfaction of knowing you are helping our men and women in harms way in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Donations can be dropped off at the Mayor’s office at 13421 Hooper Road, Suite 8 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM (Mon. – Thurs.) and 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Friday.

“Trick or Treat” in Central will be observed on Sunday, October 31 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.  Many area churches are having fall festivals in lieu of “trick or treat” and we urge everyone to participate in these festivities.

There’s nothing immoral about Halloween on Sunday. Don’t pander to religious sects.
