On Tuesday the voters of Central overwhelmingly approved continuing financial support of the Central Fire Department.  On the ballot were renewals of a $32 service fee and a 5 mill property tax which combine to provide over one-third of the operating funds for the Department.  Both items were approved by over 70% of the votes cast.

Representative Bill Cassidy (R) was re-elected and will be serving in the U.S. House of Representatives now controlled by the Republican party after this election saw a net gain of over 60 seats for the Republicans.  Senator David Vitter (R) also won re-election and returns to the U.S. Senate where Democrats will hold only a slim majority.  In other races of interest Jay Dardenne (R) will be Louisiana's Lieutenant Governor and all Constitutional Ammendments passed except #4 and #7.
