CITY SERVICES “DREAM TEAM” COMMITTEE:

Our City Service Committee has begun the task at hand.  This committee is composed of professional volunteers who will be seeking the best course of action for all service departments in Central, for our next bid term.  I want to personally thank each and every member of this committee for your time and talent that you are donating to Central.

WOW!!   CENTRAL ATHLETES, BEST OF THE BEST!

I am so very proud to once again report on the Athletic activities our students have been involved in and making our city so very proud.

CHS FOOTBALL TEAMS:

VARSITY FOOTBALL:   “3-PEAT”   THIRD YEAR TO WIN DISTRICT 5-5A CHAMPIONSHIP!

    The Wildcats will be playing at New Iberia Senior High at 7:00 Friday, November 12, 2010 for the Bi-District round of playoff games in their march to State Championship.

Tickets are on sale at Central High.  Tickets are $8.00 at the school and $10.00 at the gate in New Iberia.

    Also, the Athletic Department will be selling “District Champs” T-Shirts in the Commons area at lunch, Wednesday through Friday.  Be sure to stop by and pick yours up to wear to the game and let’s pack the stadium Friday night to show we are CENTRAL PROUD! AND CENTRAL STRONG!

    Central Freshmen team had a very productive year also with an overall record of 8 wins and 1 loss capturing the best Freshman record to date at Central High School.  Way to go Freshmen!

    Central’s Girls Volleyball team also had a winning year. These young ladies are ranked 7th in the State! They are in the middle of state competition and I will post their record as this unfolds.  Congratulations Ladies!  

    Central High School “Spirit of Central Marching Band”, under the direction of Mr. Patrick Bordelon, competed last weekend, November 6th at Northwestern State University.  The band, Silks and Kittens together comprise the competition team.  This was their final performance of “The Super Hero’s Show”.  Join me in congratulating this team for their rating of “Excellent” in their competition.                                             

   Central Private Varsity Football team had a winning season this year.  Having made it to the first round play offs last Friday.  The final score was Cenla Christian Academy 16 and Central Private 6.  Congratulations on a very good year Rebels!

    Are you aware there are many Central Citizens that volunteer to help keep our city clean?  These “Silent Soldiers” go about their task of donating their most precious commodity; their time.

    I would like very much to recognize these folks for the job they are doing. If you or someone you know has spent time making Central a cleaner, more attractive city, please call Charlotte at my office (261-5988).

COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING SERVICE

   Our annual Central Community Thanksgiving Service will be held at Zoar Baptist Church, 11848 Hooper Road, Wednesday, November 17th at 7:00 P.M.  All are invited to join in this service.

ANNUAL CENTRAL CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL PARADE

    We will be holding our annual Central Christmas festival and Parade, Saturday, December 4, 2010.  If you are interested in participating in the parade, please contact the Central Chamber Office at 261-5818.

Please make plans to come out and enjoy the parade, festival and Santa!
