Christmas has become a holiday where it’s centered on receiving a gift. It is important for families to teach their children the true meaning of Christmas. Those who find it better to give than to receive, find it truly rewarding to make a difference in someone else’s life.

Health Care Options, Inc recently sponsored a Christmas Placemat Coloring Contest were local 1st and 2nd graders were given the opportunity to give a special Christmas gift to the elderly.  The classes in each school competed for a class party sponsored by HCO.The schools that participated were: Bellingrath Elementary, St. Alphonsus Catholic, Tanglewood Elementary, Gonzales Elementary and Christian Life Academy. The placemats were colored with many vibrant colors and some added their own personal notes. The winning classes were: Belligrath Elementary: Mrs Szymanski’s class; St. Alphonsus Catholic: Mrs. Smith’s class; Tanglewood Elementary: Mrs. Montgomery’s class and Christian Academy: Mrs. Roy’s class. More than 600 children participated in this event! We would like to thank all the kids that participated and look forward to expanding this competition next year.
