Garbage Collection Issues

The city of Central has been receiving complaints lately from citizens regarding neighbors who leave their garbage cans at the roadside for indefinite periods of time.  According to EBR parish ordinances, garbage cans are only allowed to be placed by the road between the hours of 4:00 p.m. the day preceding the scheduled pickup and 6:00 a.m. the day after the pickup.  A copy of the ordinance is as follows:

Section 6:381 (a) (3):Containers and cans for the collection of garbage substances must be placed either on the neutral ground or within the premises immediately adjacent to the street or sidewalk, and not less than five (5) feet from travelled surface of streets if no curb or sidewalks are provided. No can or container shall be placed on the street or sidewalk or in any ditch along the street, nor shall any can or container be allowed to remain on the neutral ground or other place for collection except between the hours from 4:00 p.m. the day preceding the scheduled pickup and 6:00 a.m. the day after the pickup.

Complaints relative to garbage or trash matters can be made by calling the City-Parish hotline at “311”.
