The seven Central Community School System Board Members, (pictured above), who will serve the next four years each took their oath of office Monday night.  A short reception was held, followed by the first School Board meeting of 2011.  The first order of business was to elect officers for the new School Board.  Dr. Jim Gardner was seated as President and Mr. Will Easley as Vice President, both without opposition.

In addition to routine board actions, the next School Board meeting has been moved to Thursday, January 20th, in order to accomodate a training event that School Board members will be attending in Marksville on January 24th.  The bid to purchase new bleachers for the High School Baseball and Softball fields was accepted.  The bleachers are scheduled to arrive in 6 weeks and will be assembled through the efforts of parents and the Backers organization in time for this spring's games.  Superintendent Mike Faulk reported that the school year is progressing well and that construction on the new school facilities is continuing as scheduled, with structural steel to arrive in February.  Upon recommendation of the Academic Excellence Committee an effort has been launched to review the academic counseling processes in place at the Middle and High Schools.
