Roundabout Design Begins

The Central Community School Board voted unanimously in Monday's meeting to hire LeBas & Associates to design a roundabout at the Sullivan & Gurney intersection in front of the new school property.  The roundabout, or a fully signalized intersection, has been recommended by the Parish and by engineers hired by the School System.  The roundabout option reportedly handles traffic more efficiently at a lower initial and long-term cost.  The contract for design of the roundabout calls for "4 legs" which would be the two for Sullivan Road going north and south, one for Gurney going west, and the fourth being an east entrance to the new school property.  Final design of the roundabout will have to be approved by the Parish prior to the School System being allowed to tie in to Sullivan Road.
