Arkel Addresses School Construction Noise Issues

By  |

The following letter was sent from Arkel Anderson Joint Venture to the City of Central Public Works Department.

We are in receipt of a notice of complaint over excessive noise at our first building slab concrete placement.

Please note that when placing these large amounts of concrete, it is necessary to place no later than 3 AM for multiple reasons.  First, the timing of the concrete trucks arriving to the jobsite is critical.  Early morning placements allow for little to no delay due to traffic on the roadways.  Also, as the temperature of the day rises, the placed concrete will “set up” much quicker.  Placing the concrete in the cooler, overnight hours allows for extended workability of the slab and a more uniform finish.

I would also like to point out that we are working extended hours on a day to day basis (working until 9 to 10 PM daily) as necessary to expedite our project schedule.  We are not making large concrete placements during these times, only having minor equipment moving on the jobsite.  As far as I am aware, we have not encountered any noise complaints from this extended hour work.

Arkel Anderson will properly notify all officials of our next extended overnight concrete placement and all future placements of that nature.

If there is any additional information you require regarding our day to day operations please do not hesitate to contact me.  We look forward to a very successful project for the Community of Central.

Sincerely,

Tim George
