The Wildcats’ week had a shaky start with a 9-8 loss to St. Charles Catholic last Tuesday at Southeastern’s Alumni Field. Down 7-3 in the top of the seventh inning, Central scored four runs on hits by Jared Roberts, Jacob Lesage, and Chet Myer to force extra innings. The Wildcats added a run in the eighth but could not keep St. Charles off the board as they scored runs in the eighth and tenth innings to win the game.

Central responded to the loss by beating Episcopal 11-3 on Thursday. The Wildcats batted around in the first inning and scored five runs on hits by Zack Edgens, Chet Myer, Brett Courville, Jared Roberts, and Corey Davis. Dylon Buhler started the game for the Wildcats and got the win (5-0) after pitching 5 1/3 innings while only giving up 3 earned runs. Sam Doucet came on in relief and shut down Episcopal in 1 2/3 innings of work.

In their district opener, the Wildcats took care of visiting Scotlandville in a 9-4 win.   Central had an eight run second inning with hits by Micah Jones (1 RBI), Zack Edgens (1 RBI), Sam Doucet (2 RBI’s), and Chet Myer (2 RBI’s). Sam Doucet got the win (2-1) with five strong innings of relief.

The Wildcats (14-6) have a tough week starting Thursday with a home game against Denham Springs at 4. Central also travels to Zachary Saturday for a 1 p.m. game.
