Cooking in Central This Weekend at St. Alphonsus: Event Details Here

    Load up the family and head over to Cooking in Central this Friday & Saturday at St. Alphonsus catholic Church at the corner of Greenwell Springs and Frenchtown Road in Central.  This annual fund-raiser has become Central's signature weekend each year and has raised over $1.2 million for charity over the past five years.  Featuring the great cooks from Central and surrounding cities, the Friday night Crawfish Boil, Saturday Cook-off, auctions, entertainment, a Friday night dance featuring Carbon Copy Band, and a $10,000 Raffle, Cooking in Central is THE place to be this weekend.
    Friday's Crawfish boil runs from 5-8 PM with progressive auctions at 6:45 & 8 PM.  The dance featuring Carbon Copy Band runs from 7 – 9 PM in the Gym.  Saturday's all-day live entertainment features music and dance from local groups and kicks off at 9 AM, lunch begins at 11 and celebrity judges select the winning cooks at 12:30.  The $10,000 raffle drawing takes place at 1 PM followed by the 2 PM live auction, with the event ending at 3:30.  Come out, have a fun day with the family, and help Central Cook up support for charity.

Kristenwood Reception Hall on Greenwell Spring Rd 
Fellowship Baptist Church at 14512 Greenwell Springs Rd 
    Handicap parking available behind St Alphonsus Church and at Fellowship Baptist Church. Shuttle buses, including handicap, will run between all parking lots and the event entrance on a regular basis. The event can only be entered from Frenchtown Rd.

LOCAL CELEBRITIES TO JUDGE SATURDAY'S COOK OFF
    Come out to Cooking in Central for lunch beginning at 11:00 Saturday and see who this year's award winning Central cooks will be.  Judging is scheduled to end at 12:30 with winners to be announced by 1:00.  Fifteen local celebrities from sports, radio, TV, and elected officials will be on hand to sample foods in each category and select this year's Cooking in Central winners.  This year's celebrity judges are:
District Attorney Hillar Moore; Sheriff Sid Gautreaux; Clerk of Court Doug Welborn; Senator Dale Erdy; State Representative Bodi White; State Representative Clif Richardson; State Representative Rogers Pope; Constable Reginald Brown; Baker Mayor Harold Rideau; Zachary Mayor David Amrhein; Gordy Rush, General Manager, Guaranty Broadcasting; Jeanne Burns, WAFB TV; Johnny Ahysen. WAFB TV; Joe Macaluso, Host of Paradise Louisiana and Coach Sonny Jackson.

REMEMBER THE $10,000 RAFFLE!
    Newly elected Judge Charlene Day will conduct the drawing for the $10,000 raffle on Saturday at Cooking in Central.  She could draw your name if you bought a ticket!  Tickets are still available from the Chamber of Commerce office or Ross Tire.
