Central Bloomers Time

It's all over, the Azaleas have bloomed. Now that the blooms are gone it is time to consider pruning. If yours look thin and leggy when the flowers are gone, you need to trim those long stems back to achieve a nice even curve across the top.  They will be growing and putting on bulk through the summer. To help them ,add new soil mixed with Azalea fertilizer to the area around each plant.  You local nursery will have everything and proper advice for application.  If you planted  annuals earlier this Spring, be sure they can still tolerate the coming heat.  If you are in doubt consider columbines, snap dragons and petunias for shady areas and marigolds, geraniums and dahlias for the sun. Happy Gardening!
