Vietnam Veterans Seeking Sponsors & Participants for Sporting Clays Challenge & Fundraiser

    The Vietnam Veterans Assistance Foundation of Louisiana LLC will be hosting the 1st Annual Sporting Clays Challenge on Saturday, May 7, 2011.  The event will be held at the Hunter's Run Gun Club at 1365 Northwest Drive in Port Allen from 9:00 on.  Registration opens at 8:00, and lunch with non-alcoholic beverages will be served.  There will be a silent auction as well.  The VVAF is seeking sponsors for this event – anyone interested should contact Richard Delong at 337-257-6966 or Jack Watson at 225-445-6396.  Every level from Station Sponsor at $250.00 to Gold Sponsor at $1,500.00 is offered.  The top shooter and top team in the event will each receive $500.00.  To enter, please contact Richard Delong at the number above.

     Chapter 488 of the Vietnam Veterans of America are dedicated to helping veterans and families of service people stationed overseas, and is supporting the event above.  They welcome new members, one doesn't have to be specifically a Vietnam Vet to participate.  Chapter 488 has been busy taking their cook trailer to various events to help raise money and with their elementary school programs, where they talk about the Vietnam War with 5th grade classes.  James Rushing, Vice President of the Chapter, said, "Veterans need to help each other.  All organizations are losing members.  We need to work together so we can help the new veterans coming up.  Only we can do this! Semper Fi!"  The Chapter is receiving donations of personal hygiene items for the War Veterans Home in Jackson, Louisiana,  Please send donations to VVA Chapter 488, P.O.
