Meet Shelby Romero, Gracie Brian, Reagan Bagget, and Samantha Romero – four Central Private School students who are daring to go for the gold this weekend.  These four ladies have achieved an impressive record in track events, winning first place in two relays, the 300 m hurdles, the long jump, the 200 m dash, and the 100 m dash at their Junior Varsity District Meet.  From there, their coach Carl Dijohn moved them up to Varsity, where they placed 2nd at their Varsity District Meet and qualified for South State.  At South State, they won their 4×2 Relay and placed in the top 4 out of 15 teams.  The result?  These ladies will be representing Central Private this Saturday at the MAIS State Track Meet held in Jackson, Mississippi.  What makes this impressive achievement even more so is this:  these 4 ladies are all in middle school, two of them in their first year of competition! They will be running their 4×2 event at 11:45 against juniors and seniors from 7 other teams.  To what do they attribute their success?  Hard work and “a great coach, who sees our potential and pushes us to reach that potential,” Shelby says.  Congratulations ladies and best of luck this weekend!
