Buy Hurricane Preparedness Items State Tax-Free This Weekend

From the City of Central

Batteries, flashlights and other hurricane preparedness items can be purchased tax-free this coming Memorial Day weekend. The annual tax holiday is aimed at encouraging Louisianans to prepare for hurricane season, which begins June 1. The first $1,500 of each eligible item is exempt from the 4% state sales tax. Local sales taxes levied by municipalities, parishes or special taxing districts still apply.
