Louis DeAngelo’s Opening in Central

By  |

Now THAT is Good News for a Great City.  Michael Breaux and Charlie Kinsley, of Central and John O. Hearin and Louis DeAngelo of Baton Rouge have partnered up to open a Louis DeAngelo's Casual Italian Restaurant in Central at 9952 Sullivan Road.  The partnership formed in early 2011 after another restaurant expansion project that DeAngelo's was working on was delayed and long time resident of Central Mike Breaux brought up the idea for the partnership.  Central Mayor Mac Watts reached for comment said, “This is great news for Central.  Louis DeAngelo runs a first class restaurant.  I am looking forward to its opening.”

The restaurant will feature many of the core menu items such as specialty pizza's, calzones, salads and fresh pastas, with the addition of some new ones which are constantly being developed by Executive Chef Michael Dardene.  Construction is set to begin in mid June with a possible opening mid to end of July, just a few months away from the 20th anniversary from when DeAngelo started the restaurant company at 19 years old in a 965 square foot space in the Hammond Aire Plaza.

DeAngelo’s is slated to open in the current location of Café Roux.  Café Roux, under the management of owner Rick Bennet, has served the people of Central for 13 years and will be missed.  The owners of both Café Roux and the DeAngelo’s venture indicate that there is still paperwork to do, but that the deal should go through without any problems.  Café Roux has announced that tomorrow, May 27th, will be its last day of operations.
