MADISON, NJ — Kelsey Balzli, a college sophomore from Central, LA., was accepted into a marketing internship with the Summer Professional Training Program with The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. The program runs the entire summer, beginning in May and ending in mid-August.

The prestigious program’s main focus is to train professional actors and non-performers who demonstrate ability in all aspects of the theatre. Every year, the theatre accepts roughly 90 young people from across the nation who dedicate their time and passion to the program. Participants partake in internships, the Apprentice program, or the Next Stage Ensemble touring troupe, and undergo eleven weeks of intensive classes and training towards their particular interests. Balzli, who has enjoyed theatre since childhood, greets this summer with great enthusiasm.

“I cannot wait to combine both of my passions into one summer,” Balzli said. “I have known that I have wanted to work in PR since I was sixteen, but I want to stay involved in the arts. This summer, I am absolutely ecstatic that I can pursue my career while still being involved with the theatre.”

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey is located in Madison, New Jersey, and produces classical works, including Shakespeare’s canon. Its goal is to promote all of the arts, literacy, civilization, community, cultural awareness, and the theatrical tradition. It also focuses on educating young artists in a professional atmosphere and providing outreach opportunities for students across the state.  The Theatre uses an extraordinary company of artists to deepen its audience’s understanding of classical works. Balzli chose the theatre for its dedication to preserving the classics.   For more information about The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey visit www.ShakespeareNJ.org or call 973-408-5600

“I wanted to work with The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey because it uses Shakespeare and other works to change the way the community looks at classical plays,” Balzli said. “By working with the professional marketing staff, I will develop my marketing skills in a way that lets the surrounding community truly see what this organization has to offer. It’s the best of both worlds.”

Balzli will be promoting the Theatre’s productions as well as assisting with other aspects of the theatre.
