Central Athlete Begins College World Series Play Today in Oklahoma

    Sydney Wilson will be participating in the NCAA Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City, OK this weekend.  Sydney attended St. Alphonsus Catholic School (9 years) and St. Josephs Academy in Baton Rouge.  Sydney, a junior on the Baylor University softball team, hit a two out, 2 run homerun to aid Baylor in a 9 – 2 victory over the University of Georgia this past Sunday to advance  Baylor to the WCWS.  She is also a 2-time First Team Academic All- Big 12 Softball member.  She is the daughter of proud Central parents Jackie and Mark Wilson.  Sydney’s brother, Micah Wilson, played football at Central High and Northwestern State University.  Her grandparents are long time Central residents Barbara and Jewell Wilson, and Paul Minick and the late Judy Minick of Fort Wayne, IN.  Baylor will be playing Oklahoma State University Thursday June 2 at 2:30pm.  Baylor , along with Arizona State, University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Missouri, University of Florida, University of California and the University of Alabama will be teams participating in the event . Sydney played 9 years under Ben Guidry and Billy Stears with the Central-based Louisiana Patriots organization located on Joor Road.
