The East Baton Rouge Parish Library branches offer fun and educational programs for free year-round, and the summer is especially full of activities.  The coming week will feature several free performances by musicians at the Central and Greenwell Springs Road Library branches.  Planned performances are listed below:

  • Lagniappe Dulcimer Society Performance: Members of the Lagniappe Dulcimer Society will perform folk and old time music at the Central Branch Library, 11260 Joor Road, on Saturday, June 11, at 3 p.m.  The Society is a volunteer, nonprofit organization designed for the preservation of old time musical instruments and the music they produce.  Registration is required. For more information or to register, call (225) 262-2641.
  • Didgeridoo Performance for Teens: Lindsey Dank will be performing on the Didgeridoo, an Australian musical instrument that Aboriginal people of the Kadaku region have been playing for more than 1,500 years.  The performance will be held at the Greenwell Springs Road Library on Monday, June 13 at 3 PM and at the Central Library on Tuesday, June 14 at 10 AM.  Call the individual library branch for more information.
  • One World, Many Tunes Concert: Members of the Louisiana Sinfonietta, under the direction of Dinos Constantinides, will present concerts at various branches of the library this month.  The Sinfonietta’s 45-minute program includes lively shorts with classical musical selections for various combinations of a 7-8 musician ensemble, and will conclude with a special musical folktale performed by Judy Constantinides.  The performance will be held at the Central Branch on Thursday, June 16th at 10 AM and at the Greenwell Springs Road Branch on Friday, June 17th at 10 AM.  For more information or to register, call the individual library branch.
