Central Area Baton Twirlers Compete in State Championship

    The Central Area Baton Twirlers are a group of young dedicated talented baton twirlers who enjoy traveling the South performing and competing.   CABT had a fabulous year which included traveling to Jackson, MS twice to compete as well as to Memphis, TN.  They performed in the Central Christmas Parade and the Denham Springs Mardi Gras Parade and held a one day clinic to get new twirlers interested.  Just this past Saturday, on June 4th the team traveled to Kenner, LA to compete in the Louisiana State Baton Twirling Championships and captured numerous state titles.  The Juvenile team made up of, Samantha Hill, Caura Holiday, Kierston Kelly, and Emily Courtney captured the Juvenile LA State Dance Twirl Championship and the preteen team made up of, Mya Levet, Sarah LeDuff, Dalayli Franklin, Lillie Franklin, Leah Howell, and Victoria Williams captured the Preteen La State Dance Twirl Championship.  The girls also all competed individually: 

    Amirah Pate is a second grader at Forest Heights and captured the title of Novice Tiny Tot La State Basic Skills and Novice Tiny Tot LA State Twirling Champion. Kirsten Smith is a fourth grader at Dufroq Elementaryand captured the title of Beginner Juvenile La State military Champion and placed 2nd in the Basic Skills event. Destiny Bozeman is an eighth grader at ParkForest Middle and captured the title of Beginner Preteen LA State Military Champion and placed 2nd in the Basic Skills event. Samantha Hill, a fourth grader at Forest Heights, captured the title of Beginner Juvenile LA State Marching Champion and placed third in the Novice Juvenile Miss Majorette of LA , Caura Holiday is a fourth grader at Forest Heights and placed 2nd in the Novice Juvenile La State Solo and 2nd in the Novice Juvenile Miss M jaorette of LA. Kierston Kelly is a fifth grader at Forest Heights and captured the title of Novice Juvenile La State Solo Champion and Novice Juvenile Miss Majorette of LA. Emily Courtney is a fourth grader at Central Intermediate and captured Novice Juvenile La State Strut Champion and Novice Juvenile Miss Crescent City Majorette. Sarah LeDuff is an eighth grader at Central Middle and captured the Novice Preteen Miss Majorette of Louisiana. Leah Howell is a seventh grader at Central Middle and placed 4th in the Novice Preteen Miss Majorette of LA event. Dalayli Franklin is a sixth grader at Crestworth Middle and placed third in the Novice Preteen Miss Majorette of LA event. Lillie Franklin is a sophomore at Glenn Oaks High School and captured the Novice Junior Miss Majorette of LA. Mya Levet is a seventh grader at McKinley Middle and captured the Novice Preteen La State Twirling Champion and placed 2nd in the Novice Preteen Miss Majorette of LA event. Victoria Williams is an eighth grader at Live Oak Middle and captured the Intermediate Preteen La State Twirling and Strutting Championships, won her two-baton and show twirl divisions, and placed 2nd in the Intermediate Preteen Miss Majorette of LA event. Alexis and Lacey Brugier  from Covington captured the Intermediate Preteen and Intermediate Junior Miss Majorette of Louisiana titles as well as the Beginner Preteen and Junior La State Two Baton Championships.

    The Central Area Baton Twirlers are under the direction of Jamie Guillot.  Jamie is a three time Miss Majorette of Louisiana and a two time Miss Majorette of the South and twirled as the Central Private Feature Twirler for numerous years.  She teaches 2nd grade at Forest Heights Academy of Excellence in East Baton Rouge Parish.  For more information on the Central Area Baton Twirlers please e-mail [email protected].
