Kevin Murphy Awarded Eagle Scout Ranking

    Kevin Murphy of Central was awarded the highest rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America at a ceremony June 6, 2011 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Baton Rouge, La. He is a member of Troop 169 of the Istrouma Area Council, Tunica District, where Trinity Lutheran Church is the charter organization. Kevin began scouts at the age of 12 earning 22 Merit badges and was voted by his peers into the Order of the Arrow in 2009, Scouting’s National Honor Society that recognizes Scouts who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. His Eagle project consisted of rebuilding two playground areas and repairing a roof on playground equipment at Trinity Lutheran School where he demonstrated planning, organization and leadership skills working with 15 scouts and adults to complete the project.  Kevin was home educated until 2008 when he entered Central High School. He is a 2011 graduate of that school. He plans to attend Baton Rouge Community College in the fall to study Drafting.
