The Lady Legendz 12U girls fast pitch softball team won the 2011 NSA State Championship game in Live Oak, LA.  Saturday July 16th with a final score of 6-0.  The Legendz took the title with 4 out of 5 victories to finish their season and earned the Legendz Academy its first title of NSA State Champions.  Solid defense, strong pitching and excellent hitting drove the Lady Legendz through their opponents to the title.

When the Legendz arrived in Live Oak, the team had only been in existence for a little over 4 months.  The Legendz superior coaching staff consisted of Zachary native Derek Boyd, Erika Sluss former LSU standout and assisted by Lauren Castle also former LSU standout, combined with 13 young ladies with enormous drive and determination were key elements to the team’s new start and quick success.

At 9:00am, the first game was started and temperatures were in the mid-90s with no cloud cover, by 3:00pm the skies clouded and the rains came. These weather conditions made play difficult and took its toll on all the girls, but quitting was never a thought for the team.   After 5 very tough games and 2 international tie breakers the girls were blistered, bleeding and bruised, but quickly realized they had just defeated their last opponent and would now be crowned as NSA State Champs.

It was an amazing and well deserved tribute!  Congratulations to the Lady Legendz and their coaches.  The players and coaches in the picture are as follows:
