“We are extremely excited to become part of the Central community,” shared Jeffrey Hendrickson, President/CEO of Dow Louisiana Federal Credit Union.  “We strive to surpass our members’ expectations on a consistent basis, and the Central facility will do just that.”

Dow Louisiana Federal Credit Union has been in business since 1972.  It is opening its newest branch here in Central in October.  The new location, at the intersection of Wax and Sullivan Roads next to Cane’s, will feature 5500 square feet, with a drive-thru, ATM, and a waterfall in the lobby!  8 employees will be working there in 2 shifts, covering the 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. banking hours, a unique feature of the Credit Union.  “We are committed to offering the most convenient hours to our members,” said Allison Rogers, Vice President of Marketing.  “We have received lots of positive feedback on the hours we keep, which are geared toward our members’ needs.  Since we are a Community Chartered Credit Union, anyone can bank with us, you do not need to be a Dow employee.”

DLFCU offers many different products and services catered to fit their membership. Allison stated, “We spend lots of time, energy and resources to know our membership so we can offer the most effective packages.  Our employees receive 40 hours of “Revolutionary Service” training, covering how to help members solve their problems in the best way possible, rather than just selling products or services.  We find those products that best meet the members’ situations, even if those products are less profitable for us.  We customize packages for each of our new members.”

DLFCU is also very proud of their state of art online services.  Online banking, bill paying options, and an innovative budget management tool are some of the features available.  The management tool allows members to categorize their spending and see where their money is going so that they might budget more effectively.  Their commercial department can handle any commercial account’s requirements, including loans, deposits, and merchant services.  DLFCU offers local lending decisions for quick response.  Unlike many other lending institutions, DLFCU’s mortgage department retains all services for the life of the loan.  Members can even apply for a loan by cell phone.

DLFCU is also proud of its branch located in Brusly High School.  Students at Brusly are trained to be tellers at this branch under a DLFCU employee’s supervision.  It is a very effective way to introduce financial education to students.  They would like to introduce a similar opportunity at Central High School.  DLFC has a history of community involvement, and this would be just one more way of giving back.  They sponsor Baton Rouge Green, Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, and the Baton Rouge Little Theater to name a few.

Under the leadership of 10 year CEO Hendrickson, DLFCU has received numerous service recognition awards, among them The Crystal Performance Award, given to the top 10 Credit Unions in the nation, for the past 2 years running, and the NAFCU Credit Union of the Year Award.  “While serving the entire community of Central, our goal is to make banking enjoyable and convenient no matter how small the need,” Mr. Hendrickson asserted, “We are confident that our organization will be an asset to the Central community during this time of positive growth.  From our hours of operation to state of the art online services, we hope the people of Central enjoy all the great products and services we have to offer.  DLFCU looks forward to getting to know the community of Central and becoming a trusted partner.”
