What interesting timing for someone involved with BREC to be speaking in Central, hard to imagine this is not in some way politically motivated and that we will hear all about it tommorow and debate what was said and watch the video, oh wait havent we done this before. Hopefully that horse has beat to death already.

I do not know what they will be speaking about, but I would take a guess that it would be more along the lines of the progress on the parks or something rather than anything specifically related to this election.

Well if it is an update on the parks that would have the apperence of being in direct response to that same question that was asked in last weeks CCN to Bodi White of the status of the parks. I guess this issue is not going away until after the election.

I guess my point was that I doubt election-related issues were the intent behind scheduling a BREC rep as a guest speaker for a Chamber event.

Just to help clarify this issue. The decision to schedule Bill Palmer to speak at our October Membership Luncheon was made back in April of this year. Long before candidacies were announced.

Thanks for responding Mr Erickson. Do you have any news from Mr Palmer that may interest Central citizens.

Yes, he will report that BREC overspent $400,000 of our tax money to make Bodi’s partners that much richer.

Another Central Resident. Your post calling someone’s integrity in question will be allowed as soon as you sign your real name to it. If you want to be anonymous you will be limited to discussing the issues, not people. Only real people get to discuss other people.

Another last ditch effort like the infamous CH2 ad.

Folks whether you vote for me or not, BREC is taking advantage of us and thats all there is to it. The speech today was more of the same. Promises of much less than we were told in 2008, and excuses of why we shouldnt get more because we only are 3.8 % of EBR. I look at it in a much simplier way. We are up to 1.5 million a year in property taxes for BREC and are receiving MUCH less than that in services, while the rest goes to EBR. The library system is the same amount for a single Central library. In the mean time, 19 million is being spent to build a downtown library that the majority of us dont want, and will not be used enough to justify spending that kind of money in these economic times. Common sense would dictate that we pull out of both of these, take the 3 million a year, provide better services and have a big surplus to add to the City budget. We are getting shortchanged here and its very obvious. And thats not political, its something that we all should agree on as Central residents.

Donna, as Mr. Erickson stated previously, this guest speaker was scheduled in April. I therefore believe this would not qualify as a “last ditch effort” at anything. If people have problems with BREC, fine. If you have a preference of Senate candidate either way, fine. I just think it is unfair to suggest that the Chamber is trying to benefit any candidate through their choice of guest speaker- a choice which was made long before people even knew who was running for these seats anyway.

What was said in my post not true. Didn’t Bodi’s partners pay $300K and then turned around and sold for $700K. Just more waste of my tax dollars to make other’s rich. So shameful you support that. I will make sure my voice is heard on October 22nd.
