In Memoriam: Thomas V. Carl

On Monday, November 7, 2011, Greenwell Springs lost a another patriarch and pillar of the community. Mr. Thomas V. Carl was born July 14, 1910, in Greenwell Springs near the banks of the Amite River. His many accomplishments included member of the 112th Cavalry of the Texas National Guard, serviced during World War II as a 1st Sgt. 17th Airborne Div. at which time he received a Bronze Star for heroic actions near Wesel, Germany, founder and owner of Carl’s Air Conditioning and Heating, and numerous other outstanding achievements. Preceded in death by childhood sweetheart and wife Willie Mae White, parents Edward and Eugenia Carl, siblings James Carl, Edith Curl and Elizabeth Sullivan. He survived by his wife Bessie Sanchez Carl, son Michael Carl and wife Gail, daughter Linda Venable and husband Earl. His grandchildren are Richard Venable and wife Laurie, Rebecca Venable and husband Charles Booty, Nickie Carl Diamond and husband Troy, Jason Carl and wife Jennifer, and Nathan Carl and wifeSally. He also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren.
    Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 12 at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to LouisianaBaptist Children’s Home, P.O.
