A Veterans Memorial Park in Central

Central Veterans Helping Veterans, a nonprofit organization is working with the Central Community School System to establish an Educational Veterans Memorial Park.  The school system owns 3/4 of an acre next to the Masonic Lodge across Sullivan Road from the Middle School.  This triangular lot once had a house on it called the "Teacherage" where visiting teachers in the early to mid 1900's could stay.  It is the dream of Central's Veterans to embark on a project to honor all who have served this country, and to provide an educational experience for students who visit the park on this property.

At Monday night's School Board meeting the Board voted unanimously to begin the process of determining how the Veterans group and the School System could partner together to make this dream a reality.  If all goes as planned, Central Veterans Helping Veterans will be seeking funding and charitable donations to erect monuments for each war and conflict involving American soldiers.  Plans also include a pavilion and parking to accommodate visitors and groups.  Watch for future articles about this proposed Memorial Park and for your opportunity to perhaps help this become a reality.
