Republican Women of Central Announce 2012 Board of Directors and Goals

The Republican Women of Central announced their 2012 leadership team comprised of Executive Committee, Standing and Special Committee chairwomen. The Board of Directors has been expanded to offer more leadership positions to women and offer more volunteer service to the community.

 

Joan Lansing, founding president was elected to continue as president with four goals for 2012: increase membership by encouraging women and men in our region to participate in the political process; grassroots efforts to support all Republican leaders, especially Republican women in office; support education and literacy of children through projects (such as the Dictionary Project for 3rd graders); and sponsorship of special fundraising activities to financially support our agenda.

First Vice President is Betsy Otken Barnes, who is responsible for meetings and programs, and Awards and Achievements, a new endeavor for the club. She is also Publicity Chairwoman.

Second Vice President is Debbie White Dougherty, who is responsible for Finance and Fundraising, CAP Alert and Legislative Committee. In this capacity, she will also be RWC’s liaison to the LA GOP.

Elected as Recording Secretary is Tommie Morden and Corresponding Secretary is Kathleen Price, who is responsible for the club’s newsletter.

Members at Large are Louise Rauls and Juanita Lockhart Anderson. Rauls will also serve as Armed Forces Chairwoman, coordinating efforts to support Blue Star Moms, Women Veterans of Louisiana, Memorial and Veterans Day events.

 

Appointed to the Board are Chris Bone, Historian and RWC Guidebook Chairwoman, Janice Green as Chaplain and Judy Clay as Parliamentarian.

Ann Watts will serve a Community Cares Chairwoman, responsible for coordinating all community service provided by RWC members at Cooking In Central, Relay for Life, C-CAF and other local events.

 

Maudell Hill will continue to serve as Education and Literacy Chairwoman including the Civics for Kids program, which recently delivered 405 dictionaries to 3rd graders in 4 schools in Central.
Volunteers are needed to serve on all committees, and may sign via email to [email protected] or at the meeting.
The next RWC Membership Meeting will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2011 from 11:30a.m. to 1p.m. at Sammy’s Grill in Central. Membership is open to all registered Republicans. The meeting including lunch is $15 for members, $20 for visitors.
