Central High Wins Opening Game of the Season

    On Monday, February 20, the Lady Wildcat Softball Team opened their season with a victory at Assumption.  Central scored 12 runs with 7 hits and no errors, while Assumption took 2 runs, 2 hits, and 2 errors.   
    Central’s Katie Flowers was a standout, hitting 2/3 with a 3 run homer, a 2 run double, two runs scored, and 5 RBI’s.  Brittney McCartey had a solid performance with a solo home run, 2 walks, and 3 runs scored.  She pitched well for the complete game, allowing 2 runs, 2 hits, and throwing 3 strikeouts.  Chelsea David hit 1/3 with a double, one run scored, and 2 RBI’s.  Brittany Johnson took two walks, had two stolen bases, and 2 runs scored.
    Assumption scored once in the third inning and once in the fourth, and the game ended after the fifth inning with a ten run rule.  Central’s current record is 1-0, and Assumption’s is 0-1.  CHS will play in the West Feliciana Tournament this weekend, and their next regular game is next Tuesday, February 28 at St. Joseph at 4:30 PM.  Catch them at home next Thursday at 4 against West Feliciana.
