SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN LOVE

Ephesians 4:15, "… we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head Christ"
Ever felt "tossed to and fro"?  How many relationships are destroyed by the "trickery of men, cunning craftiness and deceitful plotting"?  We often hear that "the truth hurts."  But the truth, spoken in love, actually heals!
Many have difficulty expressing their feelings in a loving way.  If we don't speak the truth we mislead people and if we speak frankly but with an abrasive tone we hurt people.
Speaking the truth in love should leave a person with a sense of how much you care for them.  This requires more than just fault finding.
Before you point out someone else’s error make sure there is not a plank in your own eye!  Then consider what positive qualities you both can bring to bear on the problem being pointed out.  Seek out solutions that will cause "growth in Christ"  leaving all involved with a sense of hope.
Eph 4:16 goes on to say that when "…every part does its share" it "causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love."
