DEMCO Youth Tour delegate Rachel Crowell visits with state Senator Bodi White at the State Capitol during the annual Youth Tour Leadership Conference held in Baton Rouge on March 28-30. The Leadership Conference is part of the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives' Washington Youth Tour program where 27 students representing eight electric cooperatives across the state travel to Washington,  D.C., each June.
In Washington, the Louisiana delegates join 1,500 students from over 43 states to take part in the National Youth Tour Conference. During the state Leadership Conference last month,  Crowell and her fellow delegates spent two days involved in leadership training,  learning about the cooperative business model, visiting the NRG/Louisiana Generating power production facilities in New Roads and meeting with members of the state legislature.
"I had a great time at the conference and it was an honor to meet Senator White while the legislature was in session and talk about the process of passing laws," said Crowell, a junior at Central High School. "I'm looking forward to making the trip to Washington and meeting lots of other kids from across the country and learning more about how cooperatives work."
