In Memory of Georgia P. “Pete” Watts

    Georgia Powers "Pete" Watts, a native of Baton Rouge and resident of the City of Central, passed away at her home on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the age of 94. She was born July 24, 1917 and was a graduate of and retired school bus driver from Central High School. Mrs. Watts was an avid "Wildcat Fan" attending sporting events for many years. "Pete" was known by her fellow Zoar Baptist Church friends for her daily open house for Bible study and coffee.  Funeral services were held at Zoar Baptist Church on April 16th and were conducted by Rev. Steve Johnson. "Pete" is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann Watts Venable and husband Milam, a son and daughter-in-law, Shelton S. "Mac" Watts and wife Loretta, a daughter-in-law, Ann Watts, grandchildren, Kenneth "Bunker" Watts, Ginger C. Watts, Lynda "LuLu" Watts Thibodeaux, Jay Dee Venable, Joe Lee Venable, Mac Watts, Jr. and Wes Watts, as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Wilton Watts, son, Ward L. Watts, parents, Percy B. Powers and Lydia "LaLa" Robertson Powers, and brothers, Randolph and Percy Powers. Special thanks to lifelong travel mate and friend, Elizabeth "Libby" Voyles. Pallbearers were Kenneth "Bunker" Watts, Jay Venable, Joe Venable, Mac Watts, Jr., Wes Watts and Oliver Gene Watts. Honorary pallbearers were Lon Sandifer and her great-grandchildren.
