Celiac disease is an immune disorder in which a person cannot eat gluten, a protein commonly found in wheat, barley and rye. Ochsner Gastroenterologist Gregory Gaspard, MD will discuss the signs and symptoms of celiac disease as well as the treatment options currently available at an upcoming Hello Health education seminar on Wednesday, May 30th at noon at Mansur’s on the Boulevard (5720 Corporate Boulevard).

People of all ages can be diagnosed with celiac disease.  Symptoms can range from abdominal pain and diarrhea to anemia and fatigue.  Without treatment, celiac disease can be serious, causing damage to the small intestine and resulting in a lack of nutrient absorption.

Cost to attend the seminar is $15, which includes lunch.  To register for the seminar call 1-866-OCHSNER     (1-866-624-7637). Hello Health is an educational series presented by Ochsner Health System.
