Sports Complex in Central: Central Physical Therapy’s Expansion to Include Indoor Sports Performance Facilities

By  |

Press Release
Today Central Physical Therapy announced plans to incorporate an indoor sports performance complex as part of a multi-million dollar expansion to its facility at 13111 Hooper Road. The new 20,000 square foot indoor sports performance complex will house an artificial turf football practice field, basketball court, batting cages and sports training equipment. The complex will complement a competition class, six-lane swimming pool to be housed in CPT's new aquatics therapy center which will be constructed as an adjoining building.
According to Central Physical Therapy Owner, Helen Balzli, “The new sports performance facility will provide unparalleled access to superior performance training for individuals and teams all within one complex.” Balzli says, “The demand for private coaching and sports instruction is at an all-time high, this new facility will make it available not just to the City of Central, but to people from surrounding communities.” Including a sports performance complex in the expansion of CPT has been part of co-owner, Tom Coplin’s vision for years. In fact, he says, “My goal was to build it sooner, but the economy went South in 2008 and put us a little behind.”
Some of the programs to be offered at CPT’s Sports Performance facility include:
NFL-like training aimed at developing a young athlete’s full potential with nutrition education, daily sessions aimed at improving skills headed up by current and former professional athletes
Sports medicine that includes concussion screenings, performance-based physical therapy and rehabilitation for athletic injuries
Fitness instruction for adults ranging from injury prevention to weight-loss and body toning
Availability for people in the Central community to use on a recreational basis
Sports camps for underprivileged youth
Coplin expects to break ground for the $6.5 million dollar expansion of Central Physical Therapy and the new Sports Performance Complex by year’s end. A feasibility study estimates the project will create as many as 63 jobs and generate approximately $9.9 million in new economic activity for the City of Central.
