CHS Football – Building Character

Building strength and endurance by lifting weights and participating in conditioning is a part of every CHS football player's summer routine.  This past Monday I watched as the CHS coaching staff built more than muscle in Central's athletes.  They were building Character with the help of two men of character.
Central's Offensive Coordinator David Simoneaux drew on his high school and college football relationships to bring in two exceptional men for the day.  Sgt. Tanner Jenkins of the EBR Sheriffs Office was a four year starter at Arkansas State and Remington Trophy Award finalists. The second was a former Millsaps College teammate who went on to become a U.S. Army Special Forces soldier.  Coach Simoneaux described these men as having the values, work ethic and leadership skills to earn their place as role models for young athletes.
The morning was filled with hard work and team-building exercises and motivational talks under the leadership of these guest coaches, working along side the other men of character on the field, our own CHS Football coaches.  CHS has one of the premier summer programs preparing athletes for the upcoming season, and that season starts in 11 short weeks on September 6th.
