CAPA Corner: Saltiness

By  |

Mark 9:50 Salt is good; but if salt has lost its saltiness, how can you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”
I can see this becoming the new southernism.  I could just hear someone in Central say, “She has just lost her saltiness.  That is what is wrong with her.”  Or “Do you see him?  He just doesn’t have it anymore.  He has lost his saltiness.”  Maybe I am starting a new trend in language here in East Baton Rouge Parish.  Losing your saltiness means that you have lost your purpose, your edge in life.  It is like a dull razor.  We know what it was used for, but it is just not functioning properly now.  It is dull.  Similarly, salt that has lost its saltiness is useless.  It cannot fulfill its purpose to season food with the flavor that we all crave because our body can’t live without it.
Do you feel your life is dull, lacks purpose, or has lost its edge?  Do you feel you have plenty of purpose in life but you realize it might not be God’s purpose for your life?  Well, I tell you, you are reading the right article.  You have got some rearranging to do!  I am convinced that you once knew or are now discovering God’s purpose for your life.  However, things always seem to get in the way of that purpose.  Did you expect it would come easily?  Did you expect hat there would be no regular maintenance?  Wake up to the true flavor of life.  Taste and see that the Lord is good.  Ask God to bring back passion and purpose in your life.  Then don’t let anything get in the way until it happens, until it is restored.  When it does happen don’t forget to give God all the glory, honor, and praise.  Don’t let anything get in the way of the flavor of God’s realized purpose for your life.  Draw near to God today and live as a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ and you will find purpose again.  Don’t let anyone say of you that you have lost your saltiness!  Stay salty my friends!
