CHS Bowling Puts Up Big Numbers Against Denham Springs

By  |

BOYS – GARRETSON SETS SCHOOL RECORD

For the second time this season, Central (8-0) crushed Denham Springs (2-6) on Wednesday (2-25-15).  Earlier this season the Wildcats beat the Yellow Jackets 25-2 and this time the Wildcats bettered that score for a 26-1 victory.

Central came out with a great 1128 in Game 1 and then really caught fire.  In Games 2 and 3 the Wildcats rolled out tremendous games of 1198 and 1187 for staggering 3513 series, which is the 2nd highest series in school history and equals out to a 195 average per bowler.  It’s also the highest series in the Baton Rouge area this season, almost 200 pins more than the 2nd highest series by Dutchtown (3353) and almost 500 pins more than 3rd, Broadmoor’s 3077.  Overall the Wildcats won 26-1 and 3513 to the Yellow Jacket’s 2517 (804, 874, 839) in Total Pins.  Jacob Garretson (Senior/Captain) led the way with a record breaking performance by rolling an amazing 773 series (267, 248, 258).  Garretson upped his own school record which he set last year with a 755.  Parker Aucoin (Sophomore) followed with a 599 (241), Dylan Ringo (Sophomore) chipped in with a 587 (222), Jonathan Ryder (Junior) had a 560 (214), Bryce Delaune (Sophomore) had a 528 (180) and Parker Wales (Sophomore) had a high game of 190.

If the Wildcats can continue this type of bowling, they will no doubt be primed for a deep run in this year’s State Playoffs.  But up first, Central will be going for a 3rd straight District Title on Wednesday (3-4-15) at Circle Bowl (3:15pm) against Broadmoor (6-1).  Earlier this season, the Wildcats handed the Bucs their only defeat by a score of 19-8.

GIRLS – LeDUFF AND YOUNG CONTINUE TO ANCHOR GIRLS

On Wednesday (2-25-15) The Wildcats (8-0) upped their winning streak to eight straight matches with a convincing win over district rival Denham Springs (4-3).  The Wildcats posted the 3rd highest series in school history and continue to prove they are going to be a handful for any team in the State Playoffs a month from now.

The Wildcats rolled a very impressive 2824 series and won all three games fairly easily.  Central won Game 1 6-2 (967-863), Game 2 8-0 (934-781) and Game 3 6-2 (923-700). With the 3 bonus points for Total Pins, the Wildcats defeated the Yellow Jackets 22-5 (2824-2344 Total Pins).  In Game 1 Sarah LeDuff (Junior) led the way with a 192, followed by Haley Young’s (Senior/Captain) 189, Kaylee Robinson’s (Junior) 176 and Brianna McCurley’s (Sophomore) 172.  Game 2 was led by Young’s 226, LeDuff’s 193 and Sam Soule’s (Sophomore) 155.  The final game was led by K Robinson’s 182 and Brittnee Robinson (Sophomore) and LeDuff’s 170.  Overall Central was led by Young’s 578 series, LeDuff’s 555 and K Robinson’s 477.  The Yellow Jackets were led by Ashley Hewes’ 536 (187) and Bridgette Roundtree’s 522 (193).

The Wildcats are back in action on Wednesday (3-4-15) at Circle Bowl (3:15pm) against St Joseph’s Academy (5-1).  Earlier this season, the Wildcats defeated the Stickers 24-3.  But the last time Central was handed a regular season loss was last year against the same St Joes team.  The Wildcats will have extra motivation because this match will also be for the District Title.  The Stickers will look to get a share of the title, while the Wildcats will try to claim the title for the second consecutive year.
