The Central Chamber Report: Promoting Business through Education

CSP061815.inddTierney Rowe (L) and Katarina Frank (R) receive their Central Chamber Scholarship award from Educational Committee Chiar, Kevin Rogers.
The Central Chamber understands the important role that education plays in the ongoing development of a strong, vibrant and sustainable business community.  In 2014 the Central Chamber established its Educational and Workforce Development Committee for the purpose of supporting and partnering with local educational systems, organizations and agencies in order to insure the future development of an adequate workforce.  One of the ways we do this is by participating in the Central Community School System’s special recognition of Students of the Year, Support Staff of the Year and Teachers of the Year.  Various Central Chamber members provide gifts to these individuals and the Chamber provides monetary awards, through funds raised in our yearly raffle.  Through these funds we also support education in our community by awarding scholarships to local High School Seniors.  At the June Investors’ Luncheon, held at Mike Anderson’s, we gave out two $500.00 scholarships.  Congratulations go to Central High’s Tierney Rowe and Redemptorist’s Katarina Frank.  Thanks to all our members who help to support these ongoing efforts to encourage a quality and diverse education that supports a strong business community!
